Color Notes
2022-Present
Color Notes are records of artistic practice with each composition documenting the palette employed across one or more works, creating an archive of chromatic decision-making.
The work operates through a democratic framework: regardless of a hue's proportional use in the source painting(s), each color occupies equal visual weight within the grid.
This systematic approach generates unexpected relationships between colors that may never have directly touched in their original contexts. By isolating each hue while maintaining their sequential order of use, the work reveals the interconnected nature of chromatic choices across disparate pieces. It is a visual manifestation of how individual creative acts, when mapped collectively, expose underlying patterns of connection.
The grid structure emphasizes both separation and unity: each square stands autonomous yet contributes to a larger rhythmic whole, mirroring how discrete creative outputs share unexpected commonalities when viewed systemically.
