My paintings excavate tree and nature forms into psychological portraits of our most honest human states of vulnerability, resilience, and interconnectivity.
My process is rooted in paying attention to the natural world that exists in the midst of contemporary life and interpreting it through intuitive and in-the-moment markmaking. I collect ideas as sketches and images, but allow my lived experience to inform when to commit to one in paint. Each piece is an act of meditation as I uncover what it is about my subject that beckoned me to it at that specific time.
The work invites viewers to recognize within themselves the same power, tenderness, and interconnectedness of human existence that the natural world reflects, and to wholly embrace what is already holy in each of us.
